Platform awards grant to provide seated exercises for residents
16 August 2024
We have recently celebrated the unsung heroes who live in our communities at our annual Community Heroes Awards.
Our vision is to build a better future by investing in affordable homes, services and communities – we launched our awards programme in 2022 to highlight the work that both our customers and partners do in their local communities.
The awards were announced on Wednesday 19 June, and the Community Partnership Award, which is awarded to an organisation which works to bring about a positive impact with its local community – has been awarded to Sue Turner from Worcester.
Sue – who works at Cranham Primary School as the Family Liaison and Nurture Lead – was instrumental in setting up a special family support unit at the school, ensuring that a whole host of services for both parents and children were brought together under one roof.
“I am truly humbled to receive this award. I see my role as bridging a gap between the parents and the teachers and can’t stress enough that there is always someone here in my team that can help; nobody should feel alone or isolated or unsure what to do.
“Helping each other makes for a better community and enriches lives; we’ve all experienced some sort of trauma in our lives and I am no exception. For me the real reward is seeing the children happy when previously they may have felt as though they had the weight of the world on their shoulders. I would like to thank Platform for its support.”
Marion Duffy, Chief Operations Officer at Platform Housing Group said: “Sue is amazing; she provides such a great support to both the school and the local community. She brings people together in a safe and welcoming space and has truly changed lives. She provides help when it is needed and is such an inspiration.”
The award category was sponsored by Nationwide Windows and Doors.
Kevin Caveney, Director of Commercial Sales at Nationwide Windows and Doors said : “At Nationwide we are very much focussed on community, both the community where we are based and the communities in which we operate. That’s why we are absolutely delighted to be supporting these awards, helping to recognise those everyday heroes that make such a difference.”
The awards are made possible by main sponsor Travis Perkins Managed Services, the UK’s leading supply chain and procurement solutions partner to the repairs and maintenance sector.
Ben Clifford, Account Manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services said: “We are so proud to be the main event sponsors for Platform’s Community Heroes Awards for the third successive year. Our company values align with these awards and exemplifies our commitment to social value. Well done to all the worthy winners; its great they have been recognised and rewarded within their communities.”
