Partnerships see Platform maintain strong pipeline

Platform is delighted to have recorded good results for delivering social housing and believe the key to building more will be through partnership working.

The group has seen its development programme grow as we started on over 1,500 homes in the last 12 months, making us the fourth largest provider in the country for getting on site.

In a recent survey published by Inside Housing, we also ranked 11th in the country for homes completed in the last 12 months. The news comes following other research that shows the group have delivered consistently high numbers of accommodation for the purposes of social rent, amongst other affordable tenures developed in the same period.

Against a backdrop of challenges in the building sector, Platform has managed to maintain our programme of building where many have had to reduce their output. Group Chief Executive Elizabeth Froude said,

“At Platform we remain committed to keep building ever-needed affordable homes, despite the challenges facing the development sector. These fantastic results are down to the hard work of all of our teams that have secured land and completed deals to match our ambitious programme, alongside our strategic relationship with Homes England. The year has also seen us continue to deliver a programme containing all affordable tenures, including high numbers of social rented homes as a core component and a renewed focus on quality through our dedicated quality team which has meant fewer defects for customers in our new homes. The partnerships formed with developers, SME builders and local authorities have made these numbers possible and contributed to our strong, committed pipeline for the coming years. Those relationships will be key to us delivering the affordable housing our communities need.”

The group has also this month begun work on its largest site to date of 319 homes in Nottingham on the former Boots Enterprise zone site, where they have parternered with Keepmoat Homes to deliver affordable homes of mixed tenure but all gas-free.

You can hear members of the development team discussing the results of the survey and the future of affordable housing delivery on our podcast The Housing Platform.
