Warm Community Hubs

The Warm Spaces initiative was the community response to the cost of living crisis and a large number of local councils and community organisations have got involved to offer a warm welcome to everyone in their local area who might need it.

Warm community hubs are where local people can:

    • Sit and be warm.
    • Study or work on their laptops (with access to Wi-Fi).
    • Have a hot drink.
    • Be with company.
    • Access advice OR information / signposting to advice on debt, bills, benefits and food.

Find out what's available in your area

You can visit the websites listed below to see what’s available in your local area.

You can also visit your local authority website to find out more, as most local councils are creating their own list of safe places for their communities. If you are not sure who your local authority is, you can find out by typing in your postcode on the government website.

What are we doing to help?

We are using £20,000 from our Wellbeing and Community Chest Funds, along with £10,000 grant funding from the EEM Trust cost of living fund, to help support existing and new community warm hubs to ensure that they can continue to operate after the winter period.

More than 50 existing warm hubs across our localities have received a share of this £30,000 funding to enable them to hold more sessions, stay open longer or offer more free food. The funding will also make it possible for them to provide warm packs for people to take home to help them keep a little warmer.

Running in the heart of local communities, warm hubs are designed to support vulnerable and isolated people, as well as those on lower incomes, at a time when the cost of living continues to be a daily challenge.

The activities and services available at the community hubs we’re supporting are operated by volunteers from within the local area; people who are uniquely positioned to understand the needs of their local communities.
